SPAIN AND THE COSTA DEL SOL
(9 DAYS, 7 NIGHTS)
DAY 1 FLY
TO MADRIDEnjoy your overnight flight to Madrid.
DAY 2 MADRID OVERVIEW AND THE PRADOWe arrive at Madrid’s Barajas Airport and board our coach for a two hour
orientation tour of this beautiful city, followed by a one hour leisurely stroll through old Madrid. Here
you may enjoy coffee and perhaps a light lunch in the Plaza Mayor. We then depart for a two hour tour of
the Prado. Secondly only to the Louve of Paris this Museum houses some of the world’s great art treasures.
About 3PM we depart for check-in to our hotel. We depart at 7PM for dinner.Overnight- Madrid.
DAY 3 THE VALLEY OF THE FALLEN, EL ESCORIAL AND AVILA We depart after breakfast for the Valley of the Fallen also known as “Valle de los Caidos”.
This is a memorial to the fallen of the Spanish Civil War. We continue on to El Escorial built about 1563
by Spain’s Philip II. What the Palace of Versailles is to France, El Escorial
is to Spain. We visit the Palace and view its rooms and Basilica. About 12N we depart for the medieval
walled city of Avila. We return to Madrid about 5PM for a short rest. Dinner follows at 7PM.
Overnight-Madrid.
DAY 4 TOLEDO,
GRANADA AND THE COSTA DEL SOLWe depart about 8AM
for the medieval walled city of Toledo. Here we will visit the cathedral and the old synagogue as well
as walk the streets in the old city. There will also be time for a “café” and shopping.
Traveling through the “Man of LaMancha” countryside we depart at 11AM for Granada and its famous Alhambra where
we will visit for a couple of hours. We depart for Malaga and the Spanish sun coast, known as Costa del
Sol, about 4PM, arriving at our hotel about 6PM. Dinner follows. Overnight- Costa del
Sol
DAY 5 RONDA AND GIBRALTARRemember to take your passports! After breakfast, we depart for the hilltop Andalusia
village of Ronda. Enjoy a “café”; view the bullring, and most of all take pictures of
its lofty bridge over the steep gorge dotted with Andalusia houses. We depart about 11AM for the British colony of Gibraltar.
Yes, this is the home of the Rock! Free time follows at Gibraltar until about 5PM when we depart back to Malaga. You
will have ample time to visit the rock and its monkeys via the cable cars, a taxi or if you are physically well fit, a hike.
Overnight-Costa del Sol.
DAY 6 TANGIER
MOROCCO Remember to take your Passports!
After breakfast we depart for Africa!That’s
right, we will travel down to Algeciras then a board a ferry for a short trip through the straits of Gibraltar to Tangier
Morocco. On arrival we will tour the old city and its open air market, have lunch, shop and perhaps ride a camel.
We return to our hotel about 7PM for dinner. Overnight- Costa del Sol
DAY 7 SEVILLAWe check out of our hotel and head for Sevilla. This has got
to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world! On arrival we will visit the Cathedral and the burial
crypt of Christopher Columbus. Our next visit will be the Alcazar of Sevilla with its beautiful gardens
and the old streets of the Judea Quarter also known as the Barrio Santa Cruz. We will then check in to
our hotel. In the afternoon you will enjoy free time for a stroll on the Guadalquivir River or shopping
on the Calle Sierpes. Overnight- Sevilla DAY 8 CORDOBA, LA MANCHA
AND MADRIDWe depart at 8AM for Cordoba.
On arrival we will view the massive Mosque known as the Mezquita and walk the old Jewish Quarter. We continue after
lunch with sightseeing through the Land of La Mancha en route back to Madrid with a possible winery stop in Valdepenas.
We arrive back in Madrid about 7PM for dinner. Overnight- Madrid. DAY 9 FLY HOMEYou will be transferred back Madrid airport for your flight home.
